Bird spikes are a simple but effective, long term method of keeping birds off their favourite perch spots.
Maintrac Group stock a range of different bird spikes to suit many different applications and target a range of bird species.
The most suitable spikes to use depends on the width of the area that needs to be covered, the target bird species and the bird pressure in the area.
These are narrow spikes for use on narrow ledges, signs, pipework and light pressure bird areas. Best for medium to large size birds. The AU2 Spike protects areas up to 120mm wide.
Common spikes for deterring sparrows, starlings and mynas from areas up to 150mm wide. Great for fences, narrow roof ridges, parapets, and small beams.
Deter birds from areas up to 200mm wide. Also great for roof ridges, parapets, beams and pergolas - best used for pigeons and seagulls.
Wide spikes - deters most birds from areas up to 230mm wide. The best option for wide areas and high bird pressure. Ideal for roof ridges, roof apexes, trusses and beams.

Not sure what spike to use or what birds are likely to be an issue? If its a large surface area you're wanting to protect would suggest the AW5 Bird Spike, not so large an area - the AW3 bird spike.
For narrow perch areas where spikes would be too wide or are unable to be used, the Birdzout Gel is ideal for these situations.
Wanting a low profile option or the aesthetic of bird spikes is not appealing? Birdzout shock tape is a great alternative.
How do I install bird spikes?
All Birdzout bird spikes are DIY and straight forward to install. Each spike comes with pre-drilled screw holes, so the spikes can easily be screwed down. The polyc base spikes also have a glue channel, simply apply bird spike adhesive or a bonding silicone to the glue channel and then place the spike in position. The AU2, AW3 and AW5 spikes have snap points along the length so you can get the exact measurement you require, and the SS-10-1 and SS-13-1 stainless spikes can be cut to length.
Note: it is not recommended to use spikes, where birds are nesting. Always clean up the area prior to installing bird spikes.
